Thought I'd do two posts today seeing as I've been so neglectful the past month! As I may have said before I study Fashion Media & Promotion at uni and our next big project is styling and photography so as a warm up we were given a one day project based on eras. We were put into pairs and given an era, mine was 1960s. We were then told that between us we had to be the make up artist, hair stylist, stylist, photographer and model and we had to hand in our finished photo by 3pm the same day. The project brief was given to us a few weeks before the actual project so we had time to prepare. I found this dress in a vintage shop called Hideout near my house although this dress is actually new and the boots and coat were found in a charity shop. My lovely partner Jess did my hair and make up amazingly in the style of twiggy and also took the final photo :)
Dress-Topshop, Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell

T-shirt-Vintage, Shorts- Topshop, Tights- Select

As I havent updated my blog in a while I thought I would upload a couple of my favourite outfits from the last month. First of all, yes you did read right those are JEFFREY CAMPBELL LITAS! :O They were a birthday present from the boyf and I know every other blogger says this but they are so worth the investment because they are the comfiest shoes in the whole world, I would wear them everyday if I could. The top outfit is what I wore to my last night out as a teenager. I wasn't sure about getting the dress because I knew it was gonna be one of those topshop dresses that everyone had but I bought it on my uniform which made it a bargain I couldn't resist. The second outfit is one I wore to see Calvin Harris in brighton. I love the shorts but they are lethal, the sequins tore my tights which lead to chafage on my legs and I had scratches all up my arms! but hey, no pain no gain!

Top three photos are of mine and my mum's stall selling vintage clothes :)

These are photos from an event my mum organised called 'Southsea Tabletop Bazaar' it was the first one and it was a reasonable success for a first attempt although the best customers were my friends! It was a 2 hour indoor sale at a local church hall selling vintage clothes, antiques, jewelry and arts & crafts. We hope to do another one in the new year but are thinking about renaming the event :)

Fanny Karst: Old Ladies Rebellion/Lacanne Hip Collection

For one of my many projects at uni we have to make a 3-4 minute documentary in groups of 3 or 4 on a fashion based subject. After a discussion of several topics we spoke about how when most people think of fashion they think of young teenage and twenty-something models however more recently another generation has become more recognisable and more influential. A huge inspiration for this topic was an article I read in The Sunday Times Style magazine called 'Rare Bird' about Iris Apfel a 90 year old fashion icon. My group and I also found inspiration from the Advanced Style Blog whos tagline is: "Proof from the wise and and silver haired set that personal style advances with age" and has lots of street style photos of this particular generation. This tagline helped us come up with the documentary name "Silver Style".

The main part of the project brief was to find someone in the fashion industry to let us interview them in our documentary so that it becomes more credible. This was the part we probably found the hardest as we emailed lots of different magazines, stores and designers and had no reply however after researching on a monday I came across Fanny Karst's collection; Old Ladies Rebellion. Fanny is a french 27 year old St Martins graduate who designs clothes purely for the 'ladies'. I emailed her straight away asking if there was any chance she would let us interview her and to my surprise she replied very quickly inviting us to the presentation of her new collection 'Lacanne' the next day in London. These are some photographs I took from the presentation which was amazing. Fanny was so lovely and happy to help us out which we are truly grateful for as we couldn't have found a more relevant person in the industry to interview!

This collection is called the Hip Collection and is a sportswear line which was very popular with the ladies at the presentation. Her designs are very high quality and flattering with quirky finishes. Fanny's models range from 60-80 and are all beautiful! The lady I mainly photographed above was so sweet and also helped us by letting us film her modelling and answered a few questions.

Once we have put the documentary together and it is completely finished I will post a link on here :)

Black vest- vintage, gold sequin palazzos-topshop.

This is the outfit I wore out last night for my friends birthday in Bournemouth. These trousers were originally £260 but I found them on the sale rail for £50 plus my staff discount on top of that so they were a real bargain! I've had them for a while and didn't think I'd ever get round to wearing them because they're a bit out there but decided last night was the night!

As well as starting up a blog for my summer project, we were also given the project of producing a sketchbook based on two descriptive words. These photos are some that I have taken to link to one of my chosen words; 'Ethereal'. I decided to shoot the photos in my local graveyard and luckily the day I chose was nice and sunny which helped me create the bright airy photos I wanted. I havent got photoshop so I havent edited them just used effects on my camera.
On the subject of cameras I am looking to get a new one for uni does any one know any good, cheapish and quite simple to use?
