FLATS FOR THE PARTY-TESTED

So, when Net-a-porter said: 'Style rethink:flats for the evening'- I was completely confused. Hundreds of years the heels have been considered as a choice for the eveninhg and now suddenly we were supposed to re-think it? I mean I haven't worn flats to any party since I was probably 14 and Olsen twins were making teenage movies, while I still though that is completely ok to sport your ultra fresh sneakers (my choice always fell on Adidas) on yet another teenage party.
But here I am, 25- and trying pointy flats for the cocktails. And it worked, and my feet seemed more than thankful the day after.
The trick is finding the right flats - I found that the pointy, glitzy ones really do the trick, as they are elegant enough to pass as a part of the night-life attire´ and keep your cool, but still be comfy enough to dance the night away... I mean I am not saying goodbye to my heels forever, but doing something else from time to time seems like a reasonable thought.
What do you think?

I am wearing True Religion shirt, Guess leather skirt, by Malene Birger pointy studded flats, Saint Laurent Betty, Maria Black rings, Eddie Borgo bracelet.

TBT

I am using Thanksgiving to take a glance backwards and think about all the wonderful things that have happened over the last year and all the cool cats I have met.
Here in Vogue British sporting pink outerwear last winter during LFW, captured by always wonderful Dvora
Thank you, dear readers for all the love!Right back at you. ;)

Wish List

I don't know about you but when I'm stressed or sad I like to escape into the realms of internet shopping and fantasise over all the clothes I need want. This is exactly what I have spent my afternoon doing today so thought I would share with you my most coveted items that I found.

I'm always on the hunt for independent labels/designers who have more unique, quirky pieces as personally, I would rather spend a little more on something that not many other people would have and that I could keep forever, than buy something cheap that I might never wear or will go off as soon as I see every other person on the high street wearing. Saying that, being a skint student I only ever really stick to this once in a while due to lack of funds but still, a girl can dream. One day (soon) I will have an online dreamland stocking colourful/crazy/unique vintage clothes and independent designers to satisfy all our rainbow needs. Can't wait!

A personal post

Earrings- Ashleigh Wise
Jacket & Bag- Nasty Gal
Trousers- ASOS
Shoes- Topshop

Sorry it's this top and this jacket combo again but I just can't stop wearing it! I actually took these photos a week or so ago but my life has been mental this last week. I'm actually blogging right now as a form of distraction from going crazy. I don't usually openly talk about really personal stuff on my blog but here it goes..

As some of you may know if you follow me on twitter or facebook, sadly my step dad passed away yesterday after a 2 year battle with throat cancer. He had been in a coma for the whole of my birthday but being the thoughtful person he was I'm pretty sure he held on to pass away the day after. I actually never considered the fact that the cancer would come back as he was given the all clear but we found out just over 3 weeks ago it was back for good. So it's all seems to have happened really quickly which is quite hard to get my head around. Especially as this is actually the third time in just over a year I've lost a family member to cancer.

My mum and I are trying to carry on as normal as possible at the moment as that's what he would have wanted. My perspective on life has completely changed the last year and if anything, made me more determined to make the most of life. Right now all I want to do is sleep the pain away but I know that when time starts to heal things I'm going to do everything I can to give my family and I the most colourful, happy life and to also help kick kill cancer's ass.

THE GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING

Now, we have all been obsession with the pearl earring by Dior worn on one side, and I am madly in love with the idea of contrasts between the feminine pearl and a punk attitude.
This Sophie Bille Brahe piece has both combined , and I am so clicking this beauty home

THE BRAND TO KNOW: LITTLE LIFFNER

My newest brand obsession: Little Liffner handbags. I will admit that I almost never fall in lobe with the bags, but several pieces of theirs have been constantly on my mind lately.
Here a Power Pouch in Cognac as worn by Elin Kling, although my heart lies with the shearling beauty beneath

COLD

So, I don't know about you, but these high-and-low temps have given me the cold, so much that yesterday I just lay passively on the sofa starring into nothing. And that was the day we were supposed to go and watch the 'The Hunger Games'...! But at the end I did force myself out of the warmth of the bed, and of to the movies, layering like crazy to the point where you could only see my eyes, and well, ankles. I am sorry for the open-mouth photo, but this is the only one that turned out descent, the rest was well, more of a candid sort. But back to the cozyness of the winter layering: the turtleneck(welcomed back with open arms on the fashion scene), the varsity jacket and  coat over the shoulder are just some of the essentials a gal needs to survive the winter.

I am wearing Vanessa Bruno coat, True Religion Varsity jacket, Fillipa K knit, Rag&Bone jeans, TheManual&Co, Thakoon velvet boots.

CHUNKY CHIPS

One of my favourite sweaters of the season: the chunkiest, softest, coolest, oversized, warmest thing from by Malene Birger (I love it so much that I am going to but a pink one too-although in a smaller size).
I love how the silhouette turned out with a sleek midi skirt and sculpted heels, so, when I had a decent chance to sport this onduty/offduty combo I did.

Cannia knit from by Malene Birger, H&M midi skirt, Proenza Schouler heels, Saint Laurent purse, Maria Black jewellery.

Happy Weekend lovely!

THIS GIRL, THIS BAG!

So, we all know Marie from Blame it on Fashion (and if you don't, well...) and when she told me that she is going to do a shoot with Louis Vuitton I nearly passed out. So did my fiancé when I told him that I want that Sofia Copppola bag for Christmas, as it looks so scrumptious in Marie's arms.  I especially love the red color and to be honest duffelbags aren't my thing, but I have hade both the ones from Saint Laurent and SC on my mind lately as I really feel  I need a bigger bag for everything that I have been carrying around lately.

SPEAKING OF

Speaking of loafers, here is a little detail from an outfit I wore some days ago, including  a red high heeled version of my obsession and ripped jeans.

Heels by Marc by Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren D&S jeans

MASCULINE LOAFERS

I have really been obsessing about black patent loafers lately. Like, really chunky and masculine worn with vintage blue jeans and a peacoat.

ON MY MIND: BALMAIN RST

In courtesy of Style.com

If there is one thing I can't seem to throw of my mind it is Balmain RST 2013. Now I am very aware off that those jackets are more reminiscent of vintage Chanel pieces and that dungarees are supposed to be for the kids in the kindergarten (I, in particular had a pair with a place for colorpencils in the front, which I was immensely proud of)but wait a second and imagine those two together with a pair of peeptoe ankle boots, some gold accents and a crisp white shirt.
Perfection.

ASOS FF Blogger Challenge #5

Jacket- Nasty Gal
Jumpsuit- c/o Asos
Shoes- H&M

Here we have the final look I styled for the ASOS Fashion Finder Blogger Challenge using this jumpsuit and making it wearable in the day. Which has been your favourite look?

You can't really see this tee to it's full potential but it is literally my favourite t-shirt that I've ever owned. It's got wonder woman on it and the mix of colours on it makes it seem to go with everything. So god damn soft and comfy too.

MONDAYS OFF

Ok, really, really bad weather over here on Bergen, kind of difficult to photograph and post for that matter. So, I have mondays off, sort of, as I am usually on meetings or planning collaborations or styling-which requires a special type of workwear- business casual. You can look at it as a casual Friday, just on Monday. So what better arena than to sport the beautiful Stella knit (I warn you- you will be seeing a lot of it in the feature) and a new pair of Rossi' boots (yupp got those too!)

CAGECITY PHOTOSHOOT

A few months back I was invited over to Cage City HQ for a blogger photoshoot where we styled 6 outfits and did a little interview. It was such a fun day with lots of my blogger friends and prancing around in amazing clothes and not to mention drinking lots of yummy rum.

Here are 3 of my favourite looks from the shoot and below is my interview. To see the rest of the outfits and to buy the clothes in the photos visit here.

It's Monday, so you know what that means - It's CAGECITY MEETS!
This week we're catching up Helena of bellsfashion.blogspot.com - one of the coolest and quirkiest blogs of the blogosphere!

It was 2 years the other day! :)

What made you get into blogging?

I started it for a uni project but kept it going because I loved it so much.

How would you describe your style?

It's quite hard to describe as i'm still experimenting with different styles. I would say colourful/bohemian/eccentric with an edgy twist.

What items could you not live without?

Chunky black platform shoes, my phone and foundation!

Has your style changed over time?

It's a lot more daring these days, I care less what people think as I get older, resulting in crazier outfits.

What is your favourite fashion era?

The 70's without fail!

Who is your style inspiration?

How Two Live (australian sister bloggers)

How often do you attend blogger events?

Quite rarely, I live in Portsmouth so it's quite far for me to travel to London often.

What is your favourite part of the events?

Meeting other bloggers and the team behind brands.

What are your top 3 favourite shops/shopping areas?

Urban Outfitters and H&M on the high street, but I prefer to shop for second hand clothes at charity shops and carboot sales.

What blogs do you follow?

Waiste
How Two Live
Even Though I'm Skint
Fashion Rush
Lulutrixabelle

What is your top blog?

Howtwolive.com

Where do you like to party?

Wherever there's good music and amazing people!

Are you a clubber or a raver?

A clubber!

How do you dress to party?

A two piece and some massive platform shoes and some dark lippy.

Apart from fashion, what are your interests/hobbies?

Photography, spending time with my cats, walks along the beach.

Who is on your top 3 playlist?

Arctic Monkeys
Justin Timberlake
TLC

What has been your biggest fashion fail?

Pink Adidas tracksuit with ugg boots (even saying it makes me cringe!) I was very young!

What has inspired your CAGECITY shoot?

My usual style is quite bright and colourful so I tried to incorporate that into my outfits.

What is your favourite CAGECITY piece?

The Minkpink velvet print smock dress.

How would you describe CAGECITY's style?

Eclectic, cool, edgy!

What is your favourite brand on the site?

Friendly, loyal, trustworthy, worrier, positive.

ASOS FF Blogger Challenge #4

Hat- Topshop
Cow Print Lapel- ASOS
Cardigan- Carboot
Rucksack- New Look
Shoes- Office

This is my penultimate look for the blogger challenge and I felt like channelling my inner boho with my favourite cardigan and floppy hat. Granny crochet is one of those things that will always be a firm favourite of mine whether it's in the form of cushions or blankets or even better, clothes!

I officially only have one week left of being 21, trying to think of fun things to do before I turn 22 but the reality is I'm weeks behind on my dissertation and other projects so instead I will probably spend most of the week in my room attempting to catch up :( 22 seems so much older and mature than 21?!

ASOS FF Blogger Challenge #3

Shirt (worn underneath)- Vintage
Jumper- Oh My Love
Jumpsuit- c/o ASOS FF
Shoes- Office
Earrings- Ashleigh Wise
Bag- Nasty Gal

Here we have my third look for the ASOS Fashion Finder blogger challenge. Green is one of my favourite colours this season, hence the green nails, earrings and bag. I receive a few funny looks when I wear these earrings, I have no idea why?! Maybe it's because I have big furry balls hanging from my earlobes..

COZY DRESSING

With the storm raging in Bergen and streets turning into rivers, it is just cozy to be wrapped in warm cashmere coats and soft knits, with your head hidden in the high collars. Now this might feel a little contradictory to me wearing sunnies, but my eyes have been a little sensitive to light lately, thus the shades.
Luckily earlier this week the weather hasn't been all that obnoxious so we had a little time to catch some of what-I-wores before the storm really took off...

ASOS FF Blogger Challenge #2

Top- Motel Rocks
Gilet & Boots- H&M

Here is number 2 out of 5 of my outfits from my blogger challenge with ASOS Fashion Finder. This Gilet is probably my most worn piece, you can literally chuck it on over everything. I feel the same with the boots although does anyone else make their ankles ache?! It hasn't stopped me from wearing them every day though.

I'm out for my joint birthday celebrations tonight (9 days early) and this is probably the least I've ever been excited for a birthday in all my life. Turning 22 is just no fun :( I will be wearing this jumpsuit though so hopefully that will cheer me up!

ASOS FF Blogger Challenge

Top and Coat- Carboot
Shoes- H&M
Bag- New Look

I am so excited to now be able to share with you a huge highlight of my blog life- collaborating with ASOS Fashion Finder. The lovely Stacey contacted me asking if I would like to take part in a blogger challenge where they would send me a key party piece which I would then style into 5 different daywear looks. I was extremely flattered to have been asked and love a challenge so here is the first result!

This jacket is actually a dressing gown I think (yet again) but it is quilted and nice and cosy and has the most amazing paisley print on it that went so well with the navy jumpsuit! I'm actually going to be wearing this jumpsuit out for my birthday celebrations tomorrow night so if you want to see how I dress it up then keep an eye out on my instagram (@helibells)

I will share the rest of my looks over the next 4 days, hopefully you will like them and not get too bored of the same thing :)

STELLA MCCARTNEY IN ELLE SWEDEN

Photocourtesy of Elle Sweden

Completely obsessing over this styling in the latest issue of Elle Sweden. The sports-vibe is just...right!And the colours seem somehow to put me in the Holiday spirit.
I have even be meaning to try to learn to skate, although I was talked out of by my insurance agent...

STRAPPY BOOTS

On my mind lately: strappy boots as an alternative to your ankle boots. Although I still can't decide which version I like better- the edgier ones by Gianvito Rossi or the more elegant ones by Valentino. Oh, the dilemma....

Gianvito Rossi and Valentino boots at Net-a-porter.com

ISABEL MARANT POUR H&M

When I was  in Oslo a week or so ago,I popped by H&M Showroom and had  a chance to take a closer look  at the fantastic Isabel Marant pour H&M collection, also to select some of my favourite pieces. That turned out to be quite a difficult as the collection is one of the most approachable and wearable yet and I can easily see all of the pieces in my wardrobe, which also goes for the menswear!
But the ones that will end up in my closet are the leather pants with laces (I mean hey, who can resist them??) , the masculine coat, tried and tested in Norwegian cold and those beautiful lacey blouses.
So, what will you be coveting tomorrow when the collection hits the stores??

Thank you H&M Norway for having me!

A GOOD CAUSE

Although Movember is a guy's month there is never a bad time to support any good cause.
I love the fact that Tommy Hilfiger created the most beautiful tote(you have all seen photos with Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell shot by Patrick Demarchiler in just crisp white shirts and carrying the bag, right??) where parts of the income go to support reasearch and fight breast cancer on the international scale.
Now if that isn't a pretty good reason to buy a new bag, I honestly don't know what is.Me and mine have been inseparable lately.

I am wearing Acne coat and shirt (mens), FWSS beanie, the ultra cool  and ultra ripped jeans by Ralph Lauren Denim&Supply,Tommy Hilfiger Breast Health International bag 2013,  Saint Laurent heels, Eddie Borgo bracelet and Georg Jensen watch.

SOMETHING OLD,SOMETHING NEW

Well, my late posting is due to Mac-related problems, so..., soory for that :/
But let's talk this strange weather thingy going on here, one minutte it is really, really warmn and the next one, well, I am wearing tigh-highs...?
Not that I am complaining though, as these beauties from Stella Mccartney anno 2009 have been waiting to be sported again when the season is right. Just had to brush the dust off the dust bag and find my old treasure! Not to mention that they have something veru Célinesque anno 2013 over them.
They worked perfectly with this 3.1Phillipm Lim neoprene beauty that I just recently got on My-wardrobe. I have been debating for quite some time weather to go for the pink or the armygreen one, and although I looooved the pink, the olive one seemed like a more reasonable choice.
And I like to think that I am a reasonable persone, although my recent closet cleaning and realizing that I have 20something pairs of sandals and 4 pairs of boots hints something veeery differently...
And lets face it, we all love neoprene in whichever color it comes by...

Hope you are all enjoying Sunday/funday!

I am wearing 3.1Phillip Lim neoprene skirt, vintage Aran-knit cardigan, Stella Mccartney tigh-high boots (more like pleather pantsish), Acne Studios Coat, Maria Black rings, TheManual&Co bag
